02-24-2012 - Henderson and Sons - Mr. Emmett Middleton, age 80, of Rome

Mr. Middleton was born in Rome, Georgia on July 29, 1931, son of the late Thomas Vince Middleton and the late Minnie Mamie Simmons Middleton. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Mr. Middleton was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He attended the Mountain View Baptist Church. Mr. Middleton worked for several years at Integrated Products and in construction and later retired from the Maintenance Department at Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine Vaughn, to whom he was married on March 24, 1953; a daughter, Mrs. Sara Annette Hickman, and her husband, Allen, Lindale; two sons, Donald Glenn Middleton, Silver Creek, and Mickey Randall Middleton, and his wife, Gail, Silver Creek; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four brothers, Russell Middleton, Calhoun, Harvey Middleton, Ned Middleton, and Bobby Middleton, all of Rome; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 3pm at the Mountain View Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Miller and the Rev. Ladell Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with the American Legion Post Number 5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 until 9pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are asked to assemble at the church on Friday at 2:30pm.
