Mathis Arrest - Followup
Authorities continue to release additional information regarding last weeks arrest of a former Floyd County Judge - former Floyd County Chief Magistrate Judge Chris Mathis, was taken into custody Thursday at his home, on more than two-dozen charges that authorities say are all related to financial transactions for his cattle business - charges for Mathis included Theft by Deception, Theft by Taking, Theft by Conversion, Exploitation of an Elderly Person also, with Deposit Account Fraud - along with Damaging & Destroying Property to Defraud Another - that, according to Floyd County Jail records.

Reportedly, there were multiple victims involved and in some of those cases Mathis took his alleged victims’ money with a promise to purchase cattle but instead converted the funds for his own use - some of the alleged incidents happened in 2009 - while others occurred earlier this year.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesperson John Bankhead said that none of the charges - at this time - are connected to Mathis` role as a judge.

Since the time of his arrest Mathis posted bond in both Floyd and Polk counties.
