Cedartown City Manager Quits Over Rome `Incident`

Charles Akridge, Cedartown City Manager, resigned Monday after
an incident in a Rome bar over the weekend. Akridge said about his resignation,
`for an incident that occurred over the weekend, which caused
potential embarrassment to the city, and for which he was truly
sorry.` An incident occurred at 333 on Broad in which Rome PD was
involved, but no arrest were made.
Following the incident Akridge contacted Cedartown Assistant
Police Chief Jamie Newsome and was given a ride home to
Cedartown.
Akridge stated in his letter that that he enjoyed his time with
Cedartown and felt that the city was moving in the right
direction. He further wished `the government, and the good
citizens of Cedartown, every possible success in the future.`
No other details about the altercation was released due to no
arrest being made.
