Georgia Senator Mitch Seabaugh proposed to cut 19 superior court judges on Wednesday. If approved, S.B. 485 would cut the number of judges in the state to 186, and save the state $14 million.

The state is having to look for ways to cut $1.1 billion from its next budget.

Seabaugh said that the state Constitution allows for the General Assembly to eliminate judgeships.
