Atlanta ranked at the bottom of a Forbes magazine list of the most `toxic`
cities in the U.S., followed by Detroit, Houston, Chicago,
Philadelphia, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Baltimore,
and Portland.
The rankings were based on the number of EPA `Superfund`
toxic waste sites, number of chemical facilities,
pounds of releases, and air quality.
The Atlanta metro had:
- Superfund sites - 58
- Chemical facilities - 277
- Pounds of releases - 41,502,855
- Air quality - 28th
Atlanta didn`t lead in any of the categories. It`s high/low
ranking was based on its combination of higher scores.
