Kenneth Reese admitted on Monday to killing a Fulton County
deputy without provocation in 2003. After five judges and years
of delays, the defense and the Fulton County DA agreed on a plea
of life in prison without parole for Reese.
The defense said Reese gunned down Blount after a psychotic
reaction from taking diet pills containing ephedra.
Family of the murdered officer Aaron Blount said they were
satisfied with the sentence.
`Even though he didn’t get the death penalty, he still will be in
prison so, that’s fine,` said Blount’s fiancé Nicole Murray
Manns.
Blount was about to be married to the mother of his child when
he was killed. The child was only a year old and had just
started walking and talking when his father was murdered. The
boy’s mother said the child had just learned to say ‘Goodbye
Daddy’ and those were the last words he said to his father the
day he was shot and killed.
