After months of political attack ads on the television there are only a few more hours left in the hotly contested U.S. Senate race here in Georgia. The run-off between Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin will be this Tuesday. Alaska Gov. Palin, who was Sen. John McCain`s vice presidential running mate was in Georgia for a private fundraiser Sunday night and will be in several rallies across the state Monday.

Martin plans to campaign with prominent Georgia Democrats, including Georgia U.S. Rep. John Lewis, as he seeks to rekindle the strong showing by black voters in the general election that President-elect Barack Obama sparked.

Tuesday`s runoff is critical because Senate Democrats are just two votes shy of the 60 needed to block GOP filibusters.
