RunningPaul Johnsons triple-option offense, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets upset Georgia 45-42 and ended a seven year string of defeats by the Dawgs.
The victory makes Johnson 1-0 against Georgia, while it ends Mark Richt`s perfect record against his cross-state foe.
No. 18 Georgia Tech overcame a 16-point halftime deficit
to take its first lead of the game, 35-28. Tech extended its lead 10 point. After that neither defense could hold
the other out of the end zone.
The day wasn`t all sweet for the Jackets as Virginia Tech defeated Virginia 17-14, denying the Yellow Jackets a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.
